On Tuesday, July 12th, Cove House hosted its first Volunteer Orientation. The event was a wonderful success with over 30 people in attendance looking to serve in some copacity at the Cove House. All of the participants were given a volunteer packet of information which included: a volunteer application, the Cove House statement of faith, a volunteer pledge, volunteer rules, and a statement of confidentiality. The orientation was led by Mary Claire Huslage who serves as the Volunteer Coordinator for the ministry. Ms. Huslage introduced everyone to the ministry and outlined the various ways that volunteers can serve. There is a need for people to help in the food pantry, in the clothing room, to assist with filing, data entry, prayer support, maintenance, or cleaning. Benjamin Tindall, the Executive Director, spoke of the history and services that Cove House provides. He reiterated the need for people to take part in Project Intercession which is a new program with the purpose of organizing individuals to purposefully pray for Cove House and the lives that it is touching. There was a brief Q&A period and the participants were encouraged to speak with Mary Claire or Benjamin regarding their schedules. Cove House is eager to bring on a new crop of volunteers who have a heart for Christ and service to the community. It was wonderful to see the turn out that this Volunteer Orientation had. Copperas Cove will look forward to seeing new things happening at Cove House as God continues to work through the staff there and the gifted volunteers that have come to serve with them!
